Problem

Wishly makes gifts with a built-in screen that show a new personal message every day, for up to 14 days. The idea needed a product that is small, affordable to give and simply works for someone who has never seen it before.

Approach

I designed the full flow myself, from the first prototype to products in customers’ hands:

  • PCB design. The electronics and the printed circuit board that drive the screen and the button.
  • CAD design. The enclosures for the WensBloem, WensBeer and WensBoom, designed together with Carmen, Wishly’s creative lead.
  • Bare-metal firmware in C. No operating system, just firmware that unlocks one new message every 24 hours.
  • Production. Taking the design from prototype to a product that can be made, programmed with each customer’s messages and shipped.

Result

  • Three products on sale: the WensBloem, WensBeer and WensBoom, for consumers and for companies.
  • Customers review Wishly on Google and on madebywishly.nl.
