Product development, from idea to launch
Hardware, software or both. A clear process where every phase produces something the business can decide on, and something engineering can build on. From Utrecht, for companies across the Netherlands.
The process
phase 01
Discover
Understand the problem, the users and the business case before building anything.
- business
- Problem statement, business case, go / no-go
- engineering
- Requirements, constraints, technical risks
phase 02
Concept
Explore solutions and pick the architecture that fits budget, timeline and volume.
- business
- Concept choice, first cost estimate
- engineering
- Architecture, key components, feasibility checks
phase 03
Prototype
Build fast to learn: 3D prints, breadboards and first software.
- business
- Something real to show customers and investors
- engineering
- Working prototype, first test results
phase 04
Validate
Test with real users in real conditions, and iterate on what you learn.
- business
- Validated value, input for pricing
- engineering
- Test reports, design iterations
phase 05
Industrialise
Make it manufacturable, reliable and supportable at the volumes you need.
- business
- Cost price, suppliers, production planning
- engineering
- Design for manufacturing, documentation, test procedures
phase 06
Launch and support
Ship it, then keep it running and improving.
- business
- Launch, customer feedback loop
- engineering
- Release, monitoring, updates and support
Not every project needs every phase. We start where you are, whether that's a napkin sketch or a prototype that needs to become a product.

Frequently asked questions
Do you do hardware, software or both?
Both. Electronics, PCBs and firmware, 3D-printed and manufactured parts, and the apps, cloud software and practical AI around them. Many products need all of it, and having one person who oversees both sides avoids the gaps between them.
Can we start small, with only a prototype?
Yes. Every phase ends with something you can decide on, so you can stop after a prototype or a validation round, or continue towards production when the case is clear.
Do you also take care of manufacturing?
I prepare the product for production: design for manufacturing, documentation, test procedures and the choice of suppliers. The production itself runs at a manufacturer that fits your volumes.
Who owns the designs and the code?
You do. Designs, source code and documentation are handed over, so you are never locked in.
What kind of products have you built?
Among others a phone mount, now on its way from sketch to production, and the electronics, firmware and software of the Wishly gifts, which show a new personal message every day.
Where are you based?
In Utrecht, the Netherlands. I work with companies across the Netherlands, on site when it helps and remotely in between.
